Malcolm
("Mike") Lowe became interested in roses as a young
man in the 1960s while stationed in Europe with the Air Force.
By the 1970s he was teaching his three-year-old son all the Latin
names.
Mr. Lowe served
as president of the New England and New Hampshire Rose Societies
and Yankee District Director of the American Rose Society and
contributed to Modern Roses XI, ARS's encyclopedia of roses in
commerce and cultivation.
He received
the Lester F. Harrell Award for significant contributions to the
study, preservation and popularity of old garden roses in America.
Mike lectures
on rose history and culture throughout the country and has written
numerous articles.
