How to Successfully Grow Roses

Roses are perhaps one of the most well-known flowers all around the world and many people want to grow them in their own yards. They are plants that produce beautiful flowers. There is some planning that goes into planting a rose garden. About a 3-inch layer of mulch is recommended.

You can also add fertilizer and specifically Rose fertilizer to the plant. The fertilizer should provide the correct nutrients to the plant. It should release nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous into the soil. Some experts recommend using a fertilizer that is in slow release form. Ensure that you dig a deep enough hole when you plant the rose plant. This will ensure the soil will be well drained and the roots will have space. Choose soil that has a pH ranging from 6.5 to 7.

Watering should not be excessive, and you should avoid wetting the foliage of the plant. The water needs to be directed to the root and how often you need to water the plant will depend on the soil type. The soil should not be too dry or too moist. The plant should be pruned to encourage new growth and should be checked for signs of disease. If you follow these guidelines you should be very successful in growing roses.
